This look slike a duplicate of #315.

I haven't been able to reproduce this issue, but it's interesting that they both occur for German language versions of Firefox. Could you provide here the information as requested in Tickets so I can start to find similarities?

Cool addon, but same problem here, bookmark menu right truncated. Only recently, so likely not before v2.0

TinyMenu: 2.0, Firefox 3.5.2 German, OS: W2K, other ext: lots, but none seemingly menu/display-related, theme: default, testing with BlankProfile: problem disappears. BUT: also tested with full profile by deactivating each other extension once at a time & restarting - problem remains. so conflict seems to be somewhere else in the profile...?

I have exactly the same problem... Any idea?

Regards.

Tiny Menu 2.0 on Firefox 3.5.2 (EN). Menus are right-truncated only when they overlap the vertical size of screen. I.e. my Bookmark listing is truncated, but if I select a folder with few bookmarks it shows correctly. BTW very useful tool, especially for use with 16:9 laptop screens (it allows recovery of vertical space). Thanks for your job.

Menus are right-truncated only when they overlap the vertical size of screen

Ah! Thank you! In hindsight now that you've said it, it seems so obvious. But I missed that little detail.

Actually, it appears to be any time the bottom of the menu falls below the bottom edge of the screen. Even if the whole menu would fit, were it starting higher.

So I can see this problem. And it is not specific to the DE locale. As of yet, however, I have no idea what might be causing it, but since I can see it happen, I can start to figure it out.

I just thought I'd add that this same problem happens when using Tiny Menu 2.0 with Firefox 3.0.13 [EN]. So it is not a Firefox 3.5 specific problem. Rolling back to 1.4.10 fixes the problem.

Same right truncation problem when menu is longer than window is high. Fixed by a rollback to Tiny Menu 1.4.10. Since 2.0 is a "total rewrite" I expect that's what introduced the (minor) bug. If you want help or a beta tester feel free to contact me.

I downloaded the 2.0.1 preview from http://trac.arantius.com/attachment/ticket/321/tinymenu-2.0.1-pre.xpi It is 4549 bytes (versus 17837 for 2.0) and will not install for me.

Thanks, Charlie

It downloads in entirety for me, could you try downloading again?

Changed 3 months ago by Charlie Rrose Selavy <Rrose.Selavy.Rose@…>

Thanks for your reply. I have WinXP fully updated. I tried using both Opera and IE8 to download the file and they both worked (got 17813 bytes and the xpi did install). Tried again with Firefox 3.5.2 -- when I use the right-click "Save link as" i still get just 4549 bytes. When I use DownThemAll extension, I get 4549 bytes. If, in Fx 3.5.2, I *left* click on the link, I get a page that says "HTML preview not available . . . try downloading"; and the path on that page does produce the entire xpi package. The URL on that page is different -- http://trac.arantius.com/raw-attachment/ticket/321/tinymenu-2.0.1-pre.xpi -- has "raw-attachment" instead of just "attachment" in the path. What I describe is repeatable for me, but I don't understand why "Save link as" and DownThemAll won't work with the URL on the first page when Opera and IE8 do work there. In any case, thanks again for the response which helped me to persevere and update your useful addon.

Further testing reveals I spoke too soon. My latest testing shows that IE8, Opera 9.64, and Firefox 3.5.2 *ALL* download 4549 bytes from this URL http://trac.arantius.com/attachment/ticket/321/tinymenu-2.0.1-pre.xpi ; and all three browsers get 17813 bytes from this URL http://trac.arantius.com/raw-attachment/ticket/321/tinymenu-2.0.1-pre.xpi The smaller file does not work, the larger one does.

Thanks again, Charlie

I installed your latest (3 days ago - today is 9/1/2009) patch and the first layer of bookmarks are a LOT better, as a matter of fact they spread across 2/3 the screen, BUT, and it is a BIG BUT like Mariah Carrey's, the second menu level is now truncated on the left side :( It IS a lot better because at least I can see my primary level which does help. But, it would be nice to have the second level bookmarks expand, what 'OVER' the first level, right? I'm using Firefox 3.52 I think with XP SP2.

Thank you!

Jaime.

Just posting to say as of today (sept 2nd) the official addon (2.0) messes with the bookmarks menu width on Firefox 3.5.1 on Windows XP. All English. Please fix this as I really enjoy Tiny Menu.

I came here to report this and see it is marked as fixed, but I'm still having this problem. Is there a patch somewhere? I'm using TinyMenu 2.o on Firefox 3.5.2 and Win XP and Xbuntu Linux. Same problem on both. Love TinyMenu otherwise, but the bookmarks menu is virtually unusable like this.

(and also to Mark and others --)

I downloaded the 17813-byte file from this URL -- http://trac.arantius.com/raw-attachment/ticket/321/tinymenu-2.0.1-pre.xpi

For me (WinXP SP3 and latest Firefox), that solved all the problems with any truncations, either left or right, etc. I do have a fairly large bookmarks with several levels of nesting and long entries, and also a Session Manager menu that was affected by the glitch in TinyMenu 2.0. Seems all solved for me with the 2.0.1 preview.

If you can tell me exactly what to do with the file after downloading it, I'd be happy to try it on XP. I don't think it will help the problem on my Linux pc, though.

Here's how in WinXP. After you've downloaded the .xpi file, have Firefox and Windows Explorer both active. Just drag the the .xpi file from WE into the Firefox window and drop it there. Soon a "Software installation" dialog box will appear. Choices are "Install now" or "Cancel." After the install completes, restart Firefox.

Perhaps this same technique will work for Linux???

Here's a page with some instructions for installing a Firefox addon .xpi on a Linux system -- under "alternate method" -- also cover Windows installation as outlined in my previous post --  http://seopen.com/firefox-extension/help.php

Use classic Compact Theme & The Add-on Companion Classic compact options. Then use the menu & tabs and select merge menu bar into one button. then you don't need tinymenu. Play around with the setting to get it to your liking. I same a good amount of screen space also!

Just want to add that I had this issue. Asus eee 1000H running Windows 7 Professional, using Mozilla Firefox 3.5.2.

In my case the bookmarks menu was truncated ONLY when Tiny Menu and Xmarks addon (v3.3.2) was enabled simultaneously.

The file tinymenu-2.0.1-pre.xpi (17813 bytes) solved the issue.

Since update I no longer have my icon which was custom made to match mt themes buttons. I want it back.
