KarmaBlock Breaks Firefox 3 on Ubutnu

Hi,

Sadly KarmaBlocker breaks Firefox 3 on Ubuntu 8.04. Stops Firefox from being able to save tool-bar preferences.

Would be nice if this could please be fixed?

If you run Firefox from the command line you will see:

PS: I tried pasting the error in code but every time I try and submit the ticket I would get "Submission rejected as potential spam (Content contained blacklisted patterns) Suggestion: remove any links."

Tested on:

I'm guessing at what you mean by "save toolbar preferences" but, if I add, remove, or change the order of buttons on the toolbar and restart, they are retained. Can you please read the wiki:Tickets page, and provide all the information requested there?

As to the error you noticed, it shows up in the console because it is caught, handled, and simply logged there. It would be a minor improvement to make it not happen at all, but is definitely not the cause of this.

Ubuntu Build:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 8.04.1"

Happens with a new profile (blank profile) so no other extensions or themes are installed.

I noticed this issue when I went to modify the button layout for the toolbar. Every time I started firefox back up it forgot what buttons I enabled. Oddly it remembers if icons should be small or not.

I expect to be able to edit all toolbar settings and have firefox remember it after each session just as it does without this extension being installed.

Only error I see is the one you explained about. Good to now! :)

By the way this is only happening with Ubuntu, no such issue on my WinXP Pro. SP3 machine.

And I had to email me myself of a copy of this extension I had saved to my xp machine because every time I try to install from  hxxps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5230 it claims the download is corrupt.

So, I'm running the same version of Ubuntu (under VMware). Same version of Firefox, except mine has no Build ID in the agent string. Are you using the version of Firefox that Ubuntu installs by default? It still works OK for me.

Finally, could you attach your karma blocker configuration as a text file? That's the only thing I can think of that's still different.

Yes I was using the build that came with Ubuntu. Note that many firefox updates have been released after ubuntu 8.04.

Anyhow, it must have been a bug in firefox because no more problem now with 3.0.1. No more error when running "firefox -profilemanager" even. I can still change the toolbar just fine and karma blocker is working just fine as well.

My very simple karma blocker config:

[Settings] threshold=100 cutoff=200

# Google Analytics Spy JavaScript [Group] name="Google Analytics" score=100 rule=$url=~'google-analytics.com'
